The useful short version
Use the iTaoBuy Spreadsheet as a research shortlist, not as a live storefront. Start with one product, brand or category, compare no more than a few candidates, confirm that the destination result still matches, and record any size or QC question before moving on.
Start with a real decision.
- You know the product, brand or category but not which result to open
- Your search is returning too many near-duplicates or no exact match
- You want a shortlist that can be checked again later
A shortlist of no more than three recognizable candidates, each with a current destination check and one clearly recorded unanswered question.
- 01Search narrowly
Use a model, product type or brand-category pair.
- 02Compare visible signals
Check identity, imagery, price estimate and available QC references.
- 03Verify the destination
Confirm that the current result still describes the same item and option.
- 04Record or reject
Keep the candidate with a question, or remove it when identity no longer matches.
Catalog snapshot · 8 Oct 2026Worked catalog example: a Carhartt jacket search
Carhartt Blue Detroit Work JacketJackets · ~$44.31 · 0 QC photos surfaced
- Title and brand are present in the current project snapshot
- Category is Jackets
- USD product estimate is approximately $44.31
- No QC photos are surfaced in this snapshot
- Question this evidence leaves open
- Does the current destination result still show the same blue work-jacket shape and the intended option?
- Defensible next step
- Open the filtered find, compare the current imagery, and keep it only if the product identity still matches. The zero QC count should be recorded as missing evidence—not treated as a failed inspection.
Your first iTaoBuy Spreadsheet session
A useful first session should end with a small, understandable shortlist. Opening dozens of products usually creates more tabs without answering the important questions: is this the right item, is the intended option still available and what would you need to inspect later?
The search on this site checks product titles, brands and categories. It is most effective when the query describes an item rather than an entire haul.
- Choose one intent
Use one model, product type or brand-category combination, such as “Jordan 4”, “winter boots” or “Carhartt jacket”.
- Open a focused result set
Use search when you know the item; use a category page when you are comparing a type of product.
- Shortlist up to three candidates
Prefer results with clear imagery and enough information to identify the product and intended option.
- Check the destination result
Confirm that the current MaisonLooks search result still matches the title and images shown in the catalog snapshot.
- Record one unresolved question
Note the size, color, construction detail or QC angle that would change your decision.
- Continue or stop
Continue only when the live result is recognizable. Stop when the listing looks replaced, incomplete or materially different.
Compare the signals that answer a question
A low price or a large QC count is not a verdict. Each field answers a narrower question. Use the table below to decide whether a result is useful enough for deeper research.
| Signal | Useful for | Stop and verify when |
|---|---|---|
| Title and brand | Confirming the intended product family | The destination result names or shows a different item |
| Product imagery | Comparing shape, color and visible construction | Only one unclear image is available |
| USD estimate | Rough comparison between candidates | The live option or price differs materially |
| QC photo count | Knowing that reference images may exist | The count is treated as a quality score |
| AI try-on signal | Previewing a visual silhouette | It is being used as proof of fit or material |
Refine a search that is too broad—or too narrow
Search quality usually improves when you change one part of the query at a time. If “jacket” returns too many unrelated shapes, add the use case or construction: “black work jacket”, “hooded puffer” or “cropped down jacket”. If an exact style code returns nothing, remove the least important detail and work back from the product family.
Brand spelling, translated color names and seller wording are not always consistent. Treat search as a short query ladder rather than one perfect phrase. The goal is to reach a result set you can visually verify, not to force an exact text match.
| Search situation | Next query to try | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Too many mixed results | Add product type, silhouette or color | Adding five descriptive words at once |
| No result for a style code | Search brand + model family | Repeating the same code with punctuation changes |
| Several near-identical listings | Compare imagery, option detail and current destination | Opening every result in a new tab |
| Seasonal item is hard to find | Use category terms such as puffer, scarf or winter boots | Relying only on a campaign nickname |
| Brand spelling varies | Try the stable product or model term | Assuming a spelling match proves the item identity |
Keep a small research record
For each candidate, save the product name, current destination link, intended color or size and one reason it remains on the shortlist. This makes later QC review more useful because you know what the photos need to resolve.
For example, the current homepage includes a Carhartt work jacket because its cropped workwear shape adds a distinct category to the American edit. That is an editorial reason for inclusion—not a claim that the item has been purchased or tested.
- Product and intended option
- Current destination link
- Approximate price seen today
- One size or QC question
- Reason to keep or remove the candidate
Use an elimination rule before opening more tabs
A shortlist becomes useful when every candidate survives the same minimum test. Remove a result when the product identity is unclear, the intended option is missing, the destination appears materially different or a necessary size detail cannot be found. Do not keep a weak candidate only because it is cheaper.
For the remaining results, compare the one or two factors that matter for your use case. A winter outerwear search might prioritize garment measurements and visible construction. A sneaker search might prioritize the exact colorway, size system and photo coverage. This is more reliable than creating one universal score for every category.
- Define the non-negotiable
Write the one condition that must be true: exact model, usable measurements, a particular color or a visible construction detail.
- Remove identity mismatches
Discard results whose current imagery or option names no longer describe the item you intended to research.
- Separate unknown from bad
Missing evidence is not evidence of a defect; mark it as an unanswered question instead.
- Choose the next action
Open the destination, move to size comparison, review QC references or end the search when no candidate is documented well enough.
What this method can—and cannot—tell you
- Organize product discovery
- Narrow a catalog by brand or category
- Surface approximate USD prices
- Show available catalog QC signals
- Guarantee stock or final price
- Prove authenticity or durability
- Choose a size without measurements
- Replace the current destination listing
Where this research goes wrong
- Searching only a broad word such as “clothes” and opening everything
- Treating the catalog price estimate as a checkout total
- Assuming a QC count means the product passed an inspection
- Saving a product without recording the intended size or color
- Continuing when the destination images no longer match the spreadsheet result
How to Use the iTaoBuy Spreadsheet FAQ
Is this the official iTaoBuy website?
No. This is an independent product-research interface and is not affiliated with iTaoBuy.
Can I search by brand?
Yes. The product finder supports brand, product and category terms.
Why do results open on MaisonLooks?
MaisonLooks provides the deeper product destination, while this site is optimized for faster search, comparison and discovery.
What should I search when an exact product code returns nothing?
Remove the least stable detail and try the brand plus model family or product type. Then verify candidate results by image rather than forcing an exact wording match.
How many spreadsheet finds should I compare?
A shortlist of about three well-documented candidates is usually easier to verify than dozens of near-duplicates. Remove results with unclear identity or missing critical information.
Does the spreadsheet price include shipping?
No. Treat the displayed USD value as a product estimate. Domestic delivery, warehouse services, international shipping and destination charges are separate.
